If you care about your WordPress site security you have of course installed a simple plugin that limits the amount of tries anyone can attempt logging in to your site before applying some restrictions, like a time delay until the next allowed attempt.
One of the simplest and best plugins for this purpose would have been “Limit login attempts” by Johan Eenfeldt (original site address was http://devel.kostdoktorn.se/ ). Unfortunately this simple but great plugin is being reported as an issue with another great WordPress plugin – WordFence.
Indeed. When you visit the plugins page in WordPress plugins repository you can also see in there that the plugin appears to be abandoned and hasn’t been updated for over 3 years.
How to solve the abandoned plugin issue?
Security must be taken seriously on any WordPress sites to ensure the safety of your site visitors. For this purpose it is recommended to remove this plugin from your plugins and replace it with another plugin to limit login attempts – “Limit login attempts Reloaded” by WPChef.
At the moment of writing this article the plugin is ready and tested for up to WordPress 5.2.2 and has over 1,000,000 installations.
